Senior Staff Backend Engineer (IAM)

Overview

Lead backend engineering for identity and access management (IAM) on a next-generation AI cloud platform. The role covers user and machine identities, authentication, authorization, and secure service-to-service communication.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a backend engineering team focused on IAM.
• Develop authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle capabilities.
• Design scalable user and machine identity systems for cloud environments.
• Implement OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and secure service-to-service authentication.
• Build authorization frameworks using RBAC, ABAC, and policy engines such as OPA.
• Drive technical design and delivery of complex distributed systems.
• Ensure identity-system reliability, scalability, and security.

What you'll need

• 13–17 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Backend development experience with Java or Python and REST API design.
• Hands-on experience with OAuth2, OIDC, and SAML.
• Understanding of user and machine/workload identity systems.
• Experience with service-to-service authentication and distributed-system security.
• Experience working in cloud environments, with AWS preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, execution, stakeholder-management, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building IAM systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with PKI and certificate lifecycle management.
• Experience with RBAC, ABAC, or OPA authorization frameworks.
• Exposure to Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and platform or infrastructure engineering.

Details

• Location: Bengaluru.
• Hybrid work model with at least 3 days in the office per week and flexibility to work from home 2 days per week, depending on role requirements.
