SIS Project Engineer

Overview

Design, engineering, testing and commissioning of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) within the Process Automation business for Energy Industries, based in Bangalore / Pune, India.

What you'll do

• Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner.
• Apply basic design thinking / design for excellence concepts in projects.
• Select, specify, configure, test and maintain safety instrumented systems following IEC 61508 / IEC 61511.
• Design and engineer SIS using safety requirements specifications, alarm specifications, cause and effect diagrams, system block diagrams, logic narratives and function / logic block diagrams.
• Perform SIS hardware design, system design, software design, application programming and HMI graphics development.
• Prepare SIS design deliverables including functional design specifications, response time calculations, test specifications and SIL verification calculations.
• Perform design verification using checklists according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.

What you'll need

• BE / B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical.
• 6 to 8 years of experience in SIS design, engineering, testing, commissioning and consulting of control and safety systems in oil & gas production / refining / petrochemical / pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in oil & gas and chemicals process knowledge, with a strong understanding of process units and business drivers.
• Experience and knowledge of instrument and control systems through design.
• Working knowledge of the Safety Lifecycle and participation in functional safety assessments.
• Working knowledge of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
• Proficiency in safety system design, application programming, hardware design and HMI graphics development.
• Experience in safety system hardware inspection, FAT, SAT, loop checks, start-up and commissioning.
• Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques.

• Must be willing to travel to customer sites for SIS commissioning activities.
