Software Development Engineer II

Overview

Support security research and software development focused on emerging threats to applications, APIs, AI/LLM systems, cloud environments, and enterprise infrastructure. Build validation frameworks, security tools, demos, and technical content for F5 security products.

What you'll do

• Research emerging cyber threats across applications, APIs, AI/LLM systems, cloud workloads, Kubernetes, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Analyze attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures using MITRE and OWASP frameworks.
• Develop proof-of-concept exploits, attack simulations, and threat emulation scenarios.
• Build and maintain automated security validation frameworks and detection tools.
• Evaluate F5 security products against emerging threats and attack techniques.
• Create reusable scripts, demos, validation assets, and customer-facing technical content.
• Participate in code reviews and develop repeatable security testing methodologies.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development, testing, security validation, or security engineering.
• Strong Python programming skills for automation, tooling, validation, and security research.
• Knowledge of application, API, cloud, and AI/LLM security.
• Understanding of OWASP Web Application, API Security, and LLM Top 10 frameworks.
• Knowledge of threat intelligence, attack techniques, detection, and security validation.
• Experience with security tools, automation frameworks, validation environments, or threat simulation.
• BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, ffuf, sqlmap, or similar tools.
• Experience with geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience with GitHub or other source control tools.
