Software Development Engineer II (Frontend)

Overview

Build and own responsive, accessible frontend applications for the Expedia Group Activities Shopping Experience team, which helps travelers plan, shop and book activities for their trip.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-quality frontend applications.
• Translate product and design requirements into scalable user interface solutions using modern frontend technologies.
• Contribute to low-level system design, API integration, and data modeling for reliable applications.
• Own frontend features through implementation, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and technical partners to deliver outcomes across multiple domains.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve product and engineering outcomes.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 2+ years of relevant professional frontend experience, such as React.
• Experience owning frontend features or components within a service or application from design through deployment and support.
• Proficiency in frontend development, API integration, data modeling, version control, automated testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Nice to have

• Experience building accessible, responsive, performant, and maintainable frontend applications at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to use data and production insights to improve user experience, application reliability, and performance.
• Experience contributing to low-level design and frontend architecture across multiple services or technical domains.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools or applying AI/ML concepts to improve frontend capabilities and engineering workflows.
• Experience safely integrating, monitoring, and operating AI/ML-enabled features within frontend applications.
