Software Engineer 5 - Android

Overview

Software Engineer (Android) for Netflix’s Member Experience Client Foundations team, focused on building and evolving server-driven UI (SDUI) architecture and tooling.

What you'll do

• Architect and build maintainable, performant Android client code.
• Define and drive Android best practices for consistency and reliability in a high-volume codebase.
• Use Kotlin and Jetpack Compose with GraphQL to deliver scalable SDUI solutions.
• Develop testable code and write automated tests (JVM Unit, Espresso, Paparazzi).
• Collaborate with cross-functional client and server partners on framework and architecture.
• Mentor less-experienced Android engineers and influence architecture roadmaps.

What you'll need

• Expertise in Android UI architecture and frameworks.
• Experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose on Android.
• Experience using GraphQL as shared data access technology.
• Ability to write and maintain automated tests (JVM Unit, Espresso, Paparazzi).
• Comfort modernizing an Android codebase while keeping up with cutting-edge technologies and practices.
• Capability to collaborate cross-functionally and solve technical problems with trade-off awareness.
