Software Engineer -Backend

Overview

Software Engineer focused on designing, building, and evolving backend services for an event-driven payments platform. You will work across the engineering lifecycle in a cross-functional squad, delivering production-grade software and solving complex distributed-systems problems.

What you'll do

• Design and develop backend services using Java 17+ or similar object-oriented languages.
• Build microservices and distributed, event-driven components in a cloud-native environment.
• Design RESTful APIs, service contracts, and relational data models.
• Engineer for concurrency, idempotency, fault tolerance, retries, and high availability.
• Improve performance, reduce latency, and strengthen system observability.
• Develop automated tests and participate in design and code reviews.
• Contribute to deployment pipelines, operational tooling, and agile delivery.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience with Java or another object-oriented language.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and distributed systems.
• Experience building and operating microservices in production.
• Ability to reason about concurrency, performance, and system behaviour under load.
• Experience with relational data stores, especially PostgreSQL.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage complexity and deliver high-quality work.
