Software Engineer II - Consumer Intelligence & Engagement

Overview

Build AI and backend services that power personalisation and recommendation capabilities for real-time consumer experiences across digital channels.

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable, low-latency APIs and event-driven services.
• Build model-serving and inference integration layers for recommendation use cases.
• Implement resilient, observable, secure, and reliable services.
• Use caching, event-driven processing, and distributed-systems patterns.
• Optimise performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery and code quality.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience building large-scale distributed backend systems on cloud-native platforms.
• Hands-on experience with recommendation and personalisation capabilities.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, backend engineering, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience integrating and operationalising LLM APIs and AI services in production applications.
• Experience with Redis or equivalent caching systems.
• Experience with observability, reliability engineering, and performance optimisation.
• Experience using coding agents, LLMs, or AI-assisted engineering tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with feature stores, vector databases, embedding-based retrieval, and modern ML architectures.
• Experience in eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital products.
