Software Engineer, Data Model

Overview

Software Engineer on the Game Engine Data Model team, building the core object hierarchy that underpins Roblox's game engine and exposes engine capabilities to creators.

What you'll do

• Develop engine code that performs well for user-created games on the Roblox platform.
• Work cross-functionally with other teams to deliver high-quality functionality.
• Improve product quality by writing automated tests for your code.
• Take ownership of features and projects, from design through launch.
• Build and test code that runs across supported devices, including desktop, mobile, and console.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience developing in C++.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C++, C#, Go, Python or similar programming language).
• Strong willingness to learn, take on unfamiliar problems, and stay current with evolving technologies.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional and cross-team projects to deliver the most curated technical solution.
• Willingness to take the long view to drive the collaboration and build the system.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with game engines, real-time systems, large-scale simulations or entity component systems.

Details

• Location: San Mateo, CA, United States (headquarters).
• Roles based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
• Annual base salary range: $168,680 - $212,490 USD.
• Company may not be able to employ candidates who have United States work authorization related to certain U.S. visa categories, or support future F-1 or H-1B sponsorship at this time.
