What you'll do

• Participate in architectural discussions and system design within a supportive engineering community.
• Investigate and experiment with cutting-edge technologies, such as machine learning frameworks and large language models (LLMs), to solve complex technical challenges and improve engineering systems.
• Design, code, and test innovative features, navigating the full development lifecycle from initial design to production deployment.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, Product, Data, QA, and DevOps, to deliver cohesive products and features.
• Support the continuous evolution of distributed systems operating at a scale of 2 trillion analytics events a day.
• Engage in the team matching process, chatting with engineering managers from across Roblox to help guide your placement.

What you'll need

• Pursuing or in possession of an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experienced with software engineering concepts through coursework, internships, personal projects, or previous roles.
• Proficient in one or more programming languages, including C#, Lua, Java, Go, Node.js, Ruby, Python, C++, and Swift.
• Able to thrive in ambiguous environments, quickly adapting to new challenges and collaborating across the company to solve complex technical challenges while developing proficiency in coding standards.

Details

• Location: San Mateo, CA, United States (headquarters).
• Roles based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
• Annual base salary range: $153,000 USD.
• Full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
• For US based roles only, the Company may not be able to employ candidates who have United States work authorization related to certain U.S. visa categories, or support future H-1B sponsorship at this time.
