Overview

Software Engineer role on Cisco's engineering team, building scalable, secure, cloud-based infrastructure and applications that connect people, businesses and governments.

What you'll do

• Influence technical decisions and optimize system designs.
• Use AI-assisted workflows to streamline development.
• Take ownership of projects and adapt to evolving challenges.
• Deliver high-quality, secure, and privacy-focused code.
• Build scalable, high-impact cloud applications.
• Work on modern software development and intuitive user experiences.
• Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
• Work independently with guidance from leadership and determine the best approach to accomplish work.
• May lead small-to-medium features from technical design through completion.
• Stay current on industry trends and serve as an expert on the software development lifecycle and agile engineering practices; coach others as needed.
• Contribute to delivery of high-quality design and deliverables.
• Advocate for new features within a product to address customer needs.
• Track metrics for product adoption and success.
• Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the development process under minimal supervision.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree (2 to 4 years experience) or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (0 years of experience).
• Strong grasp of Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Proficiency in Java or Python or Golang or C/C++.
• Ability to think critically about application scalability and cloud environments.
• Ability to architect and design distributed systems.
• Ability to use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and automate testing.
