Software Engineer (L3) Data Substrate

Overview

Software Engineer (L3) for Twilio’s Data Substrate team, focused on designing, building, and optimizing the data platform that powers Twilio data lakes.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and scalable frameworks for data ingestion, processing, and analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Architect and implement high-performance data systems, distributed storage, and processing frameworks.
• Design and implement frameworks and solutions to improve performance and reliability.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the data lifecycle.
• Mentor early-career engineers and contribute to continuous learning.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in software development or a related field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering complex data projects at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Go, or Scala.
• Experience with big data technologies including Spark, Kafka, Athena, ClickHouse, DynamoDB, and distributed computing.
• Experience building data streaming pipelines and working with REST APIs.
• Strong AWS experience at scale.

• Remote role based in the United States.
• Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings.
• Not eligible for hiring in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or surrounding areas.
