Software Engineer - Turso

Overview

Join the Turso core database team to drive the Turso open-source database and Turso Cloud, which together provide an agentic database offering where users and agents create databases on demand.

What you'll do

• Drive the progress of the Turso Open Source database, in particular the Postgres compatibility layer.
• Make sure code works and never breaks, and put the systems and guarantees in place for that to happen.
• Maintain the Turso Cloud operations, including the Cloud API and data plane operations.
• Improve the scalability of the Turso Cloud operations to support a 100x larger number of databases.

What you'll need

• Experience writing databases and/or other high-stakes low-level systems such as hypervisors, OS kernels, or storage devices.
• Experience working with remote teams and open-source communities.
• Passion and experience for correct systems, with experience in tools such as deterministic simulation testing, formal verification methods, and fuzz and differential testing.
• Experience deploying, operating and debugging large-scale software systems in production in cloud environments such as AWS and Kubernetes.
• Experience improving the observability, reliability and performance of complex cloud systems.
• Comfortable working in Rust.
• Comfortable with LLM-assisted development and evals.
• Comfortable working with embedded databases.
• Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Energized by solving real-world problems for developers.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and moving quickly.
