Software Engineering & Development (Mainframe) - Assistant Vice President

Overview

Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Mainframe Technologies, responsible for leading design, development, maintenance, modernization, and support of enterprise-critical mainframe applications.

What you'll do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of mainframe application development and maintenance initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership for IBM mainframe technologies including COBOL, PL1, JCL, DB2, CICS, and MQ.
• Drive modernization initiatives for legacy mainframe applications.
• Manage multiple projects across development and support teams, ensuring scope, quality, budget, and timeline commitments.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution for major production incidents.
• Monitor project risks, dependencies, and resource utilization; present status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.

What you'll need

• 12–16 years of IT experience.
• At least 8+ years of mainframe development and support experience.
• Strong mainframe expertise in COBOL, PL1, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and release management.
• Experience with performance tuning techniques.
• Good communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
