Overview

Software Engineering Technical Leader on the SSE Control Plane team, building and operating core control-plane microservices for Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access, including Unified Policy and the Distribution Engine.

What you'll do

• Shape the architecture, design, development, and operation of backend microservices for the SSE Control Plane.
• Architect, build, and optimize scalable applications and APIs, using AI-assisted development tools across the software development lifecycle.
• Engineer reliable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to improve the transition from development to production.
• Maintain system health and security through proactive monitoring, cross-platform troubleshooting, and participation in on-call rotations.
• Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership, collaborate across functions, and evaluate emerging technologies to strengthen the organization's technology stack.
• Multiply your impact with agentic development life cycle.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of networking and security concepts such as routing, firewalls, and gateways.
• At least 8 years of experience in software development, with strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
• Knowledge of software development and system administration principles.
• Experience programming or scripting in Python, Java, Go, or a similar language.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
