Overview
Lead Anthropic’s Secure Frameworks Research team as a Security Engineering Manager, building high-leverage security frameworks and libraries that make model development safer.
What you'll do
- Design security frameworks and libraries for handling sensitive data including model weights, customer data, and training datasets.
- Own the delivered work end-to-end, including monitoring and responsive support.
- Enable other teams to build secure solutions by providing design pattern guidance and expanding security ownership.
- Collaborate with product, research, infrastructure, and other Security teams to ensure smooth integration with lower-layer security controls.
- Choose which frameworks to build using security risk considerations and create prioritized roadmaps.
- Define success metrics around framework adoption and impact.
- Manage and grow a team of engineers to balance security rigor with development velocity.
What you'll need
- 3+ years managing security engineering teams with a track record of productivity.
- 5+ years hands-on security and software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in securing complex architectures, threat modeling, and risk assessment.
- Ability to evaluate security tradeoffs and make risk-based decisions.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills balancing security requirements with developer experience and velocity.
- Clear and persuasive communication in writing and verbal settings.
- Experience working with technical internal customers.
Details
- Annual compensation range: $405,000–$485,000 USD.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Location-based hybrid policy: expect staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
- Visa sponsorship: sponsored for some roles/candidates, with reasonable efforts if offered.
- Required field of study: a field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
