Sr. Backend Engineer

Overview

YipitData is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer, fully remote in India, for either the Infrastructure Team or the Data Feeds Team.

What you'll do

• Implement connectors to fetch ERP data and ensure it has high availability.
• Implement or upgrade backend APIs to meet evolving customer requirements.
• Take charge of ERP system data storage, making it efficient, secure, and ready for use.
• Understand business requirements and design technical solutions in discussions with the team.
• Maintain existing services, deploy iterative upgrades and improvements, and manage service governance.
• Work with US/SG/China teams and be flexible with work hours.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Maintain and enhance the stability, reliability, and high availability of existing data systems and services.
• Construct and refine an expandable, high-performance data architecture with the team.
• Partner with different teams to serve high-quality, reliable data services to internal users.
• Design and implement data functionalities and intuitive data visualizations aligned with product and business requirements.
• Oversee the integration and maintenance of collaborative data with third-party clients.
• Enforce best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a top-tier (Tier 1/2) institution.
• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, core data structures, and advanced algorithms.
• Excellence in one of: Python, Golang, or Java (Python is the most preferred).
• Proficiency with messaging platforms (Kafka, RMQ, SQS) and relational/NoSQL datastores (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, HBase, Redis, Aerospike, etc.).
• Experience in architecture and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Familiarity with microservice architecture, API gateway patterns, and service observability (logging, tracing, metrics).
• Proven track record building and operating systems with strict latency and reliability requirements in 24/7 environments, including high-performance, high-uptime (99.99%+) systems, self-recoverable architectures, and container/VM orchestration platforms.
• Strong architectural expertise with modern backend stacks (Go, Python, Java, Node.js) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes/Docker).
• Excellent logic analysis capabilities, able to abstract and split business logic reasonably.
• Strong ownership, self-motivation, and the ability to deliver independently while collaborating effectively.
• Knowledge of leading small engineering initiatives or mentoring junior developers.
• Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts and org-wide strategies to engineers, cross-functional partners, and executives.

Nice to have

• Bonus: RPC frameworks (gRPC/Protobuf, Thrift).
• Knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization, and performance tuning for high-traffic systems.
• Knowledge of AI agent/harness, focusing on using AI to improve work efficiency or restructure work patterns.
• Experience with DevOps practices.

• Fully remote, based in India.
• Standard work hours are 8 am to 5 pm IST.
• Flexible with work hours to overlap with US/SG/China teams.
