Sr. Data Scientist

Overview

Sr. Data Scientist role leading analytics programs and providing technical direction for Caterpillar business units, dealers, and customers.

What you'll do

• Lead and contribute to 3-4 concurrent analytics projects with significant business impact.
• Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
• Coach and mentor other data scientists across model development, validation, and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership while balancing innovation with customer commitments.
• Communicate complex analytical results clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Research and apply emerging analytics methods and technologies.

What you'll need

• 7-10 years of quantitative analytics experience (or 4-6 years with a Master’s, or 1-3 years with a PhD).
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Comprehensive knowledge of statistical and machine learning algorithms.
• Strong command of MS Office and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
• Practical experience with Deep Learning and Agentic AI (desirable).
• Proficiency with Snowflake and AWS (desirable).

Details

• Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
• Work arrangement: Hybrid and flexible environment; requires working onsite five days a week.
