Sr Database Engineer

Overview

Senior Database Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and managing database platforms and data architectures across GCP and Azure. The role owns production database operations while supporting modernization, migration, security, reliability, and performance initiatives.

What you'll do

• Design and implement data architectures and data computing platforms.
• Manage, tune, patch, upgrade, and monitor PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases.
• Configure backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Design and optimize BigQuery data warehouses, including schemas, queries, and costs.
• Build self-healing database platforms using observability and monitoring tools.
• Implement Terraform infrastructure as code and support database CI/CD workflows.
• Migrate and modernize data stores while troubleshooting database performance and connectivity.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering and/or database administration.
• Hands-on production database platform ownership.
• Experience with BigQuery, Compute Engine, and Cloud SQL in GCP.
• Experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Database, or SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, backup/restore, and performance tuning.
• Unix scripting experience and working knowledge of version control and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to work 4 core US hours overlapping Eastern Standard Time.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Systems Engineering.
• Experience with Agile or similar methodologies.
• Experience supporting AI/ML platforms and AI-powered data tools.

Details

• Remote role based in India.
• Annual pay range: ₹2,475,000–₹3,465,000 INR.
• Working hours include 7:30pm–11:30pm IST core US-hours overlap plus 4 flexible IST hours.
• Requires a quiet dedicated workspace and internet speed of at least 50 Mbps.
