Sr Specialist Applications Development - Workday HCM Development

Overview

Enhance, support and evolve AT&T's Workday HCM platform, delivering hands-on Workday integrations, extensions and automation as an individual contributor.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support Workday integrations, extensions and automation solutions across multiple HCM modules.
• Translate business and functional requirements into techno-functional and technical design specifications.
• Develop complex integrations and solutions using Workday Studio, Workday Extend, Workday Orchestrator, EIB, RaaS, Custom Reports and Workday Web Services.
• Build and maintain API and Web Service-based integrations between Workday and enterprise systems such as Payroll, Recruiting and Benefits.
• Independently own complex development assignments from requirements analysis and technical design through implementation and production support.
• Partner with business analysts, functional teams, module leads, technical teams and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and data synchronization.
• Perform unit, system, integration and regression testing before production deployment.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
• Monitor and optimize existing integrations for performance, reliability, error handling and operational efficiency.
• Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Participate in Workday Release Management, including impact analysis, regression testing and evaluation of new capabilities.
• Collaborate with functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with business processes across HR, Payroll, Compensation, Recruiting and Benefits.
• Identify opportunities to simplify solutions, automate manual activities, improve maintainability and reduce technical debt.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, integration specifications, operational procedures and support documentation.
• Contribute to reusable components, development standards, knowledge sharing and engineering best practices, and provide technical guidance to other developers when required.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of overall technology experience, including 6+ years of relevant hands-on Workday HCM development and integrations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, RaaS, Workday Web Services, XSLT/XPath, Workday Orchestrator and Workday Extend.
• Experience developing and supporting REST/SOAP API and Web Service-based integrations using JSON and XML.
• Strong understanding of Workday Security, Business Process Framework, Custom Reports and Calculated Fields.
• Experience working across multiple Workday modules such as US Payroll, Advanced Compensation, Core HCM, Recruiting, Benefits and Talent.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration concepts, APIs, data transformation, security, error handling and performance considerations.
• Ability to independently design and deliver complex Workday integrations and technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills across Workday and integrated systems.
• Experience with performance tuning, exception handling, monitoring and production support of enterprise integrations.
• Understanding of development standards, code review practices, reusable integration patterns and software engineering best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate and document technical designs.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within global and cross-functional teams.

• Location: Hyderabad, Argus Building, Sattva, Knowledge City, India.
• Flexible hybrid work model.
• Expected to work the 1 PM – 10 PM IST shift to overlap with U.S. business and technology teams.
• Weekly hours: 40. Time type: Regular.
