Staff Analytics Engineer

Overview

Staff Analytics Engineer role on HubSpot’s Data & AI Foundations team, building a modern data foundation to support analytics and ML products. You’ll design reusable data architecture and tooling for scalable decision-making across the company.

What you'll do

• Build and optimize performance of data pipelines and analytical tools for scale.
• Own and evolve core platform assets, AE tooling, reusable patterns, and automation.
• Design and maintain semantic models used as a trusted foundation for analytics and AI.
• Build internal AI agents and data-grounded tools, integrating RPC-based capabilities via MCP servers.
• Define and deploy scalable data ingestion, replication, and transfer patterns.
• Use tools like Monte Carlo to drive data observability and pipeline reliability.
• Lead working groups, scope requirements, and help usher projects through the lifecycle while maintaining documentation.

What you'll need

• Expert knowledge of modern data tools including Snowflake, dbt, and Looker.
• Extensive SQL proficiency along with data modeling and ETL/ELT/data transformation.
• Deep dbt expertise including advanced modeling patterns, macros, and package development.
• Experience developing slowly changing dimension (SCD) tables from multiple sources.
• Successful leadership of complex, cross-functional data initiatives from ambiguous problem to production.
• Experience designing semantic models or metric layers for analytics or AI consumption.
• Ability to use version control tools such as GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
• DevOps mindset focused on automation, continuous improvement, and user needs.
