Staff Backend Engineer - Ads Platform

Overview

Lead the technical strategy and hands-on development of an AI-powered advertising platform for paid channels including Google and Meta. Build systems for campaign automation, optimization, audience management, and feed intelligence at scale.

What you'll do

• Set technical direction for systems that generate creatives, optimize bids and budgets, and manage audiences.
• Write and review code while establishing standards for quality, availability, and system health.
• Partner with Marketing, Product, and Design to translate growth objectives into platform capabilities.
• Define human-in-the-loop controls for safe, on-brand autonomous campaigns.
• Advance the AI-assisted to autonomous roadmap through experimentation and staged rollouts.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with ML/AI and data platform teams on campaign optimization models and signals.

What you'll need

• 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading project teams and setting technical direction and strategy.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience defining product or technical strategy and aligning stakeholders.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with paid advertising platforms such as Meta or Google.

Details

• Remote eligible in the USA, subject to state eligibility requirements.
• Occasional office or offsite work may be required.
• Base pay range: $212,000–$265,000 USD yearly.
