Staff Backend Software Engineer - Loki | Singapore | Remote

Overview

Staff Backend Software Engineer working on Loki and Grafana Cloud's distributed telemetry database systems. The role covers designing, building, operating, and maintaining cloud-based services written primarily in Go and running on Kubernetes.

What you'll do

• Design and build critical systems for reliability, performance, and availability.
• Drive projects from ideation through customer operations.
• Deliver features and iterate based on results and feedback.
• Participate in on-call rotations and own running services.
• Contribute to open-source projects.
• Mentor teammates and participate in design discussions.
• Collaborate remotely through regular video calls.

What you'll need

• Solid experience with at least one programming language.
• Experience delivering projects from requirements through customer release.
• Experience developing cloud software or working in systems engineering.
• Ability to write clean, robust, performant, maintainable software.
• Good communication skills and an independent working style.
• Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or a similar programming language.

Nice to have

• Experience with database, storage-layer, or query-engine low-level code.
• Experience working with Kubernetes.
• Exposure to microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with on-call, operations/SRE, or infrastructure as code.

Details

• Remote role based in Singapore.
• Base compensation: SGD 167,000–209,000 per year.
