Software Engineer II - Critical Email Products

Overview

Join the Critical Email Products team as a Software Engineer II, Backend Engineer, building backend capabilities that help enterprises move from legacy email gateways to Abnormal.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain backend services for CEP products.
• Design and evolve event-driven pipelines using Kafka consumers and Airflow DAGs.
• Process email traffic reliably at enterprise scale.
• Work across multi-tenant, multi-cloud deployments for M365 and Google Workspace customers and FedRAMP environments.
• Use AI-augmented development tools to deliver reliable production software.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional partners on customer-facing features.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and operational quality.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Backend development experience with Python or Golang.
• Experience building scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Strong computer science and data structures fundamentals.
• Knowledge of performance optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude.
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka or SQS.
• Familiarity with email delivery pipelines or email authentication standards.
• Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architectures or enterprise integrations.
• Experience improving production reliability, observability, or operational tooling.
• Prior cybersecurity, email security, or compliance-adjacent experience.
