Overview

Staff Software Engineer on the Generative AI team at Qualcomm, building the Qualcomm AI Runtime and ML edge AI inference SDK for embedded systems, to run LLMs and LVMs on-device on Snapdragon platforms.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, create, modify and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications and specialized utility programs.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture and test engineers to design system-level software solutions and obtain performance requirements and interfaces.
• Spearhead the development and commercialization of the Qualcomm AI Runtime.
• Push the performance limits of large models through AI inferencing.
• Deploy large C/C++ software stacks using best practices.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 3+ years of work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• Strong hands-on C++ experience (mandatory; Python alone is not acceptable and C alone is not sufficient).
• Strong in C++ programming, design patterns and OS concepts.
• Experience optimizing algorithms for AI hardware accelerators (CPU/GPU/NPU).
• Strong understanding of Generative AI models: LLM, LVM, LMMs and building blocks (self-attention, cross attention, KV caching etc.).
• Floating-point and fixed-point representations and quantization concepts.
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
• Good communication skills (verbal, presentation, written).
• Ability to collaborate across a globally diverse team.

Details

• Location: Hyderabad only; 5 days onsite in office. Not open for Bangalore, Pune or remote.
• Candidates must be willing to relocate.
• Strictly ML Edge AI inference SDK development on embedded systems, not Applied AI, Data Science or ML model training roles.
