Overview
Staff Software Engineer for Twilio’s Compliance Experiences team, focusing on Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC).
What you'll do
- Lead architecture and a long-term technical roadmap for modern distributed microservices.
- Use AI coding assistants to automate boilerplate, generate test suites, and prototype quickly.
- Drive technical excellence across multiple teams, balancing delivery velocity with reliability and security.
- Translate global telecom regulations and customer needs into developer-first APIs and workflows.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and promote continuous learning.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and lead through complex production incidents.
- Produce and communicate strategies via design documents, RFCs, and presentations.
What you'll need
- 12+ years designing and developing highly available, high-scale, secure cloud-native distributed systems.
- Expert proficiency in Java or Go.
- Deep knowledge of AWS ecosystems (Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Kafka).
- Experience designing highly resilient “five-nines” (99.999%) systems.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate software delivery with LLMs.
- Track record building and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs with strong developer experience.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes and Terraform, plus modern CI/CD paradigms.

- Work mode: Remote; based in the West Coast, USA (includes San Francisco Bay Area).
- May require occasional travel for in-person team/project meetings.
