Staff Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

Overview

Staff Software Engineer for Okta’s Core Infrastructure, building and operating shared cloud services and infrastructure used across engineering teams.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects on a modern tech stack.
• Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of new common microservices.
• Operate, support, and upgrade shared services and frameworks as usage grows.
• Help with design and code reviews.
• Ensure code quality by writing unit and functional tests.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and collaborate across architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations.
• Mentor new engineering hires and interns.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of expansive programming experience in an object-oriented language such as Java.
• 4+ years working with MySQL or equivalent relational database systems.
• Experience in multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
• Knowledge of REST and its fundamentals.
• Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Tomcat.
• Knowledge of AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Docker.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Nice to have

• NoSQL database knowledge.
• Familiarity with enterprise SaaS.
• Familiarity with the Agile software development process.
• Network security, authentication, and authorization.
