Staff Software Engineer

Overview

Staff Software Engineer role focused on leading development of AI-native software and managing a team of software and AI engineers.

What you'll do

• Develop AI-native software components based on LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems.
• Own software lifecycle activities including deployment, testing, evaluation, and validation.
• Design technical specifications and plans covering model selection, prompt/agent design, and data/retrieval architecture.
• Create and automate tests, including evaluation harnesses for accuracy, regression, and hallucination checks.
• Troubleshoot coding and model-behavior issues.
• Apply secure coding practices with AI safeguards such as prompt-injection defense and data privacy controls.
• Lead engineering work through mentoring, code reviews, and goal setting for team members.

What you'll need

• 8-12 years of practical Java experience.
• 2 years of experience with prompt engineering and prompt/agent scripting.
• 2 years of hands-on experience integrating third-party AI/ML services and platform APIs.
• Strong Python skills for the ML/AI ecosystem.
• Knowledge of cloud computing and managed AI services.
• Ability to build unit tests and AI evaluation harnesses for AI features.
• Proficiency with RESTful and streaming APIs and model/inference endpoints.
