Staff Software Engineer, Identity Administration (Full Stack)

Overview

Staff Full Stack Engineer for Okta’s Identity Governance (OIG) Identity Administration team, building and maintaining enterprise identity administration workflows for large customer organizations.

What you'll do

• Lead development of user-facing Identity Administration features from UI to API and data persistence.
• Partner with UX Designers and Product Managers to turn administrative workflows into user experiences.
• Build and maintain scalable, responsive, accessible web applications using React and modern state management.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services in Java for multi-org management capabilities.
• Ensure code quality with unit and integration testing across the stack.
• Participate in technical design sessions to align frontend requirements with backend architecture.
• Participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with SRE to support reliability and uptime.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of professional full stack experience building and maintaining production-grade web applications.
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Experience with modern build tools and CSS frameworks.
• Strong experience with Java (Spring/Dropwizard) and/or Golang.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API principles, JSON handling, and secure frontend-backend communication.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT for session management and frontend authentication.
• Proficiency in SQL with experience using relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
