Staff Verification Engineer

Overview

Staff Engineer for Release and Verification, driving implementation and optimization of a verification platform and modernization of CI/CD pipelines.

What you'll do

• Drive technical direction and design for a modern Quality Engineering platform using AI reasoning for automation.
• Modernize CI/CD pipelines with automated security validation, compliance checks, and non-functional requirements, including AI/ML optimization and risk prediction.
• Own delivery pipeline and release automation framework for Sumo services to improve developer productivity, deployment frequency, and release reliability.
• Collaborate with teams during design and development to ensure best practices in verification and automated delivery.
• Mentor engineers and support technical excellence within the team.
• Write detailed design documents and maintain documentation for system design and implementation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to manage incidents and drive root cause identification.

What you'll need

• 8-10+ years of industry experience leading complex technical projects and cross-team initiatives.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Production coding proficiency in Java, Scala, or Go.
• Scripting proficiency in Groovy, Python, or Bash for automation.
• Experience running and tuning JVM workloads at scale.
• Deep experience with Quality Engineering platforms and automation of functional requirements and testing at scale.
• Demonstrated use of AI reasoning, machine learning, and predictive analytics for release processes and risk identification.
