Summer 2027 Applied Gen AI/Data Scientist Graduate Intern

Overview

Summer 2027 graduate internship on the AI Services and Platforms Research & Development Team, applying Generative AI, LLMs and AI Agents to healthcare problems alongside experienced AI researchers, data scientists, ML engineers and software developers.

What you'll do

• Develop GenAI-powered applications and prototypes.
• Evaluate and optimize LLM outputs.
• Research advanced AI techniques.
• Design and validate healthcare-focused AI use cases.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams.
• Conduct experiments and document findings.
• Present recommendations and demonstrations to technical and business audiences.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, clientele, and other internal or external constituencies in planning assignments and resolving day-to-day operational problems.
• Under supervision, provide professional services in line with the day-to-day operating objectives of the area, receiving guidance and mentoring from senior personnel.
• Undertake and/or participate in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within area of expertise.
• As requested by management, conduct research and reporting, including recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
• Undertake related studies or enrichment programs relevant to the operating unit's objectives.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree.
• Pursuance of a graduate degree, full or part-time, in an accredited college or university.

Nice to have

• Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Python.

• Location: Pennsylvania, working at home.
