Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) manages supplier quality issues, leads root cause investigations and corrective actions, drives supplier performance improvements, and supports product integrity and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
- Manage the non-conformance (concession) process and ensure effective problem resolution.
- Lead supplier root cause investigations and corrective actions through the 8D Problem Resolution process.
- Drive scorecard data integrity through adherence and compliance to non-conformance processes and policies.
- Analyse allocated suppliers’ performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and drive Red Flag activities, including implementation of Commissioned Over check Policy and supplier-led quality improvement plans.
- Conduct process improvement projects using appropriate DMAIC and quality improvement tools.
- Train and coach suppliers to improve business performance, including SABRe compliance where appropriate.
- Manage undeclared non-conformance containment activity within Rolls-Royce, repair bases, customer operations and storage locations.
- Define and implement inspection over-checks resulting from delivered non-conformance.
- Assist problem-solving and corrective-action teams through cross-functional coordination with the Rolls-Royce Production Organization, Supplier Owning Region, Engineering, Customer Interface and other internal stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and governance to ensure product integrity and approval-related tasks align with regulatory, customer and Quality functional requirements.
- Oversee final product inspection, service verification or testing at the supplier and/or within the Rolls-Royce plant.
- Verify supplier compliance through suitable audits and process assessments within personal authorization.
What you'll need
- A degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-years experience working in a Quality and or Manufacturing role.
- Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving / 8D investigation methods and process improvement techniques.
- Experience with containment activities and the ability to provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- A strong customer focus and the ability to effectively influence and challenge appropriately to manage customer expectations.
- Experience running Kaizen events.
- Understanding of Advance Product Quality planning, including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans.
- Ability to coach others on practical application of PPAP, MSA, SPC, PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Demonstrated levels of leadership and influence.
Nice to have
- Lean six-sigma Green Belt or Black Belt accreditation.
- Experience working within the supply chain.
