SW Engineer

Overview

Software Engineer - Full Stack responsible for inventing, designing, building, testing and delivering scalable software products and payment technology for a global customer base.

What you'll do

• Design code and systems while influencing standards for scalability, security and reusability.
• Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings.
• Contribute to product quality improvements, service technology and new business flows in agile squads.
• Develop robust and scalable products for end-user merchants, business-to-business and business-to-government solutions.
• Leverage innovative technologies to build Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments and Buy Now Pay Later technology.
• Support relationships with product owners to gather and refine requirements for one product task, taking existing tools and solutions into account.
• Begin developing and designing architect solutions, considering integrations with other solutions.
• Provide relevant knowledge for developing and delivering user documentation while following standard documentation processes.
• Play a minor role in developing and delivering new features within a product.

What you'll need

• A Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering or Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or 6 Months - 2years of directly related experience.
• A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale.
• Comfort in pushing the boundaries and “hacking” beyond traditional solutions.
• Expertise in one or more general development languages, such as Java or Python.
• Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability.
• Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops and Agile/Scrum teams.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring with relevant understanding of designing and building large scale enterprise Java applications.
• Strong knowledge and working experience in relational database technology, including SQL, JDBC, DB2 and MySQL.
• Familiarity with no-SQL database technology.
• Knowledge of and ability to develop front-end code, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, in support of package and product development, including extending package and product capabilities.
• Ability to select the “best available” values of an objective function to improve the functional effectiveness of web browsers.
• Knowledge of user interface design and how to provide an optimal industrial design experience through User Interface Design.
• Knowledge of and ability to develop back-end code, such as Python, Java, C++ and PHP, in support of package and product development, including extending package and product capabilities.
• Ability to develop and use Application Program Interfaces for building software applications and specifying how software components should interact.
• Knowledge of and ability to use database software to maintain, modify and output data.
• Knowledge of systems integration processes in which separately produced components or subsystems are combined and interaction problems are addressed.
• Knowledge of data structures, including data organization, management and storage formats that enable efficient access and modifications.
