Tax Supervisor 1, Private Company, Canada Tax

Overview

Supervise private client tax engagements for business owners and high-net-worth families, advising on tax opportunities, compliance, succession planning, and wealth transfer.

What you'll do

• Advise clients on business and tax opportunities, succession planning, wealth transfer, and tax compliance.
• Manage and oversee engagement teams serving individual, partnership, corporate, and trust entities.
• Plan and execute client tax engagements.
• Collaborate with specialty tax and cross-business colleagues to support client relationships and growth.
• Provide leadership, training, and career mentorship to staff and senior team members.
• Build growth opportunities with existing clients and prospects alongside senior leadership.
• Maintain relationships with clients and professional advisors through client service.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field.
• CPA license or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of public accounting experience focused on taxation and/or private client taxation.
• Experience managing client engagements in recent years.
• Proficiency in partnership, corporate, trust, and individual taxation.
• Familiarity with gift and estate taxation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks collaboratively.

Nice to have

• CPA in-depth course and/or a Master’s in Taxation.
• Private client or business taxation experience with interest in developing private client expertise.
