Associate, Payroll Accounting

Overview

Supports accurate payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, reconciliations, and financial close activities for US and UK locations. The role partners with HR, accounting teams, and an external payroll vendor.

What you'll do

• Verify HRIS employee changes and timesheets for payroll processing.
• Prepare gross-to-net reports and validate off-cycle payments, settlements, and adjustments.
• Reconcile payroll, tax liabilities, bank accounts, funding accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
• Record payroll journal entries, accruals, allocations, and related liability balances.
• Manage payroll tax filings, deadlines, notices, and jurisdiction registrations.
• Support UK statutory payroll reporting, including PAYE, National Insurance, and year-end returns.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and recommend process improvements.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of accounting experience in payroll and general accounting.
• Experience with multi-state US payroll and federal, state, and local employment taxes.
• University or college accounting degree.
• Knowledge of payroll requirements and regulations.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and payroll liabilities.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Clear written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UK payroll and related regulations.
• Experience in a GCC, shared services, or BPO environment supporting a US-based team.
• Experience with UKG payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Familiarity with ERP and accounting systems such as MRI.
