Tech Lead - Infrastructure Services N 4C

Overview

Tech Lead for Infrastructure Services. The role is established in India as a designated back-up to the single AS400 (IBM i) resource retained by the client in the United States, providing continuity of platform coverage through the platform's remaining lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Manage the AS400 operating system and DB2 database environment.
• Support and administer three production instances of JD Edwards running on AS400.
• Support and administer multiple JD Edwards development environments.
• Manage LPARs (logical partitions) across the IBM Power estate.
• Manage the Brocade switches and SAN fabric supporting the AS400 stack.
• Support and administer the Lawson application, which is also hosted on AS400.
• Act as back-up to the US-based AS400 resource, ensuring continuity of platform coverage.
• Document the environment to support a clean transition and eventual decommissioning.

What you'll need

• Good years of hands-on experience administering IBM i / AS400 environments in a production setting.
• Strong working knowledge of IBM i operating system administration and DB2 for i, including performance tuning, journaling and backup/recovery.
• Demonstrated experience with LPAR creation, configuration and management on IBM Power hardware (Power 9 or comparable).
• Practical experience administering SAN fabric and Brocade switches, including zoning.
• Experience supporting ERP workloads on IBM.
• Working knowledge of CL programming and IBM job scheduling and subsystem management.
• Experience operating within an ITIL-aligned service management model, ideally using ServiceNow.
• Ability to work effectively across time zones with a US-based counterpart, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Strong technical documentation skills, with a track record of building SOPs and knowledge articles in a low-maturity documentation environment.
• Language: English (Required), Proficient - C2.

Nice to have

• JD Edwards experience strongly preferred; Lawson experience advantageous.
• Exposure to ERP migration or platform decommissioning programmes, particularly JD Edwards to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Familiarity with adjacent infrastructure technologies in the estate: VMware, Nutanix, Dell VxRail, Veeam, Microsoft SQL Server.
• Scripting capability (CL, Python or PowerShell) for automation of routine operational tasks.
• ITIL Foundation certification.

• Candidates should be aware the AS400 platform is on a defined decommissioning path: by end of 2027, two of three JD Edwards instances will migrate to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and the remaining Protein instance (located in Alabama) and Lawson will migrate to Microsoft Dynamics.
