Overview
Hands-on Java Software Engineer to support large-scale application modernization, migrating thousands of apps to newer Java, Spring Boot, and Gradle versions.
What you'll do
- Support modernization across a large Java application ecosystem.
- Assist teams migrating more than 4,000 applications to the latest Spring Boot versions.
- Migrate applications to Spring Boot 3 and Spring Boot 4.
- Upgrade builds from Gradle 8 to Gradle 9.
- Support transitions from Java 17 to Java 25.
- Troubleshoot and resolve framework, build, dependency, and runtime migration issues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and communicate migration findings, blockers, and resolutions.
What you'll need
- Hands-on experience with Java.
- Experience migrating applications to Spring Boot 3 and Spring Boot 4.
- Experience upgrading Gradle.
- Experience migrating applications from Java 17 to Java 25.
- Deep understanding of the Java open-source ecosystem.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving application migration issues.
- Ability to work flexible hours overlapping with the US team.
Nice to have
- Experience with large-scale application modernization or migration projects.
- Experience automating application migrations.
- Familiarity with AI tools.
- Familiarity with build optimization and dependency management.
- Experience working with enterprise Java applications at scale.
- Enterprise experience strongly preferred.
Details
- Location: Bogotá, Bogota, Colombia.
- Candidates must be based in LATAM with US Central Time coverage.
- Full-time contract engagement at 40 hours per week.
- Engagement anticipated through March 31, 2027.
- Not a contract-to-hire opportunity.
