Overview
Be AlphaSense's first dedicated Government & Public Sector seller, opening priority federal agencies and building a direct pipeline from zero.
What you'll do
- Be the first AlphaSense presence at priority agencies, including Commerce, Defense, Energy, Labor, Justice, Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and FDIC, and generate pipeline from scratch through your own outreach.
- Take responsibility for the end-to-end sales process: research opportunities, prospect, build relationships, conduct demos, manage product trials, and close deals.
- Navigate agency buying processes, stakeholders, and procurement vehicles, and work with Carahsoft (or an equivalent partner) once compliance milestones are met.
- Follow up on existing inbound government customers and interest, turning it into expansion and competitive wins against legacy providers.
- Partner with SDRs, Marketing, and sales leadership to create prospecting plans and drive pipeline.
- Forecast accurately and develop the necessary pipeline to meet or exceed quota.
- Work closely with the Product Specialist team during trials to ensure client engagement and ultimate purchase.
- Work closely with Account Management to ensure customer health throughout the contract term, and close sourced upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Gather and distribute product feedback and government-specific requirements to the sales and product teams.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of experience selling into federal or public sector agencies, with an understanding of the buying process, budget cycles, procurement vehicles, and the people who influence and approve purchases.
- Experience starting from an empty pipeline, or a clear articulation of how you would do so.
- Understanding of, and ideally relationships within, priority agencies.
- Familiarity with working through Carahsoft or similar government channel partners (a strong plus).
- A hunter mindset, thriving in a high-velocity, hypergrowth environment.
- Strong value-based selling fundamentals and an articulated approach to the science of sales.
- Ability to explain complex data and concepts to non-technical audiences and communicate present and future value to stakeholders from analysts to senior executives.
- Intellectual curiosity to uncover mission needs and challenges at all levels of an agency.
- Tenacious, coachable, hard-working, open to feedback, and resourceful where no playbook exists.
