Job description

Overview

Serve as a recognised technical authority for the Software Product Engineering organisation, shaping engineering direction through hands-on system design, distributed architecture, agentic AI systems, intelligent automation pipelines, and next-generation software platforms.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end system design of large-scale, distributed, cloud-native platforms, including API contracts, data models, deployment topology, and observability.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards and patterns, including microservices, event-driven, serverless, and CQRS.
  • Lead architecture reviews, ADRs, and technical blueprints.
  • Design for resilience, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency on cloud platforms.
  • Drive decomposition of monolithic and COTS systems into modern, maintainable, in-house services and platform capabilities.
  • Write production-quality code across frontend and backend stacks using modern languages and frameworks.
  • Build and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs, real-time communication layers, and high-throughput data pipelines.
  • Champion code quality through rigorous reviews, test-driven development, and CI/CD automation.
  • Apply DevSecOps principles end-to-end.
  • Architect and build agentic AI systems that autonomously execute multi-step workflows using LLM orchestration frameworks, tool-use patterns, and RAG.
  • Design AI-native architectures with context-aware assistants, automated decision support, and self-healing infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate prompt engineering, model evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and set the standard for the team.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and drive adoption where they create measurable value.
  • Challenge the status quo and recommend improvements to processes, tooling, and practices across multiple teams and functions.
  • Coach engineers at all levels in architecture, AI, and software craftsmanship.
  • Represent SPE in architecture guilds and technology leadership forums.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 14+ years of hands-on software development experience across frontend and backend systems.
  • At least 4 years in a senior/lead architecture role.
  • Experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems in production, including microservices, event-driven, and serverless architectures.
  • Deep expertise in at least one cloud platform, with AWS preferred.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, including CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
  • Experience with containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of domain-driven design, CQRS, API gateway patterns, and system decomposition strategies.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, including Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or Java, Rust, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work across the full stack.
  • Experience building frontend applications with modern frameworks, including React, Angular, or Vue, with focus on performance, accessibility, and component-driven design.
  • Proficiency in backend development with appropriate frameworks and relational and/or NoSQL database technologies.
  • Strong testing discipline and CI/CD experience.
  • Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, including agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, and prompt engineering at production scale.
  • Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks and foundation model capabilities, limitations, evaluation, and responsible AI principles.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication for architecture documents, ADRs, and standards.
  • Strong track record of coaching engineers.
  • A challenger mindset that questions assumptions, proposes better alternatives, and drives innovation.
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence at a cross-functional level.
  • High intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.

Nice to have

  • Cloud certifications.
  • Experience in regulated industries, including Life Sciences or Healthcare, or familiarity with compliance frameworks such as GxP, HIPAA, or SOX.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, technical publications, or a visible engineering community presence.
  • Experience with platform engineering, developer experience tooling, or multi-modal AI in enterprise contexts.

Details

  • Location: Hyderabad, India.
