Job description

Overview

Drive financial management, operational performance and business rhythm for the Enterprise Systems function, translating financial data and operational metrics into insights that support investment decisions, resource planning and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

  • Own and manage the Enterprise Systems financial planning cycle, ensuring budgets are accurately maintained, variances are understood and explained and financial commitments are met.
  • Serve as the primary finance and operational business partner to Enterprise Systems leadership, providing proactive financial analysis, cost modelling, and investment appraisal to support prioritisation and decision-making.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of Enterprise Systems spend across run, change, and invest categories, including internal headcount costs, external vendor and managed service contracts, software licences, and capital expenditure, ensuring accurate allocation and recharging where required.
  • Lead the operational management of Enterprise Systems vendor and contract portfolio, including purchase order creation, invoice approval, accruals management, and contract renewal tracking in partnership with Procurement and Legal teams.
  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Systems management information pack, providing regular reporting on financial performance, headcount, productivity, and operational KPIs to senior leadership and relevant governance bodies.
  • Support the Enterprise Systems leadership team in preparing business cases for investment, ensuring financial modelling, benefit quantification, and risk assessment are robust and aligned to GSK's investment approval standards.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to manage headcount planning, contractor and contingent worker governance, role change processes, and workforce cost tracking across the Enterprise Systems function.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and operational workflows, identifying AI/automation and simplification opportunities that reduce administrative burden and improve data quality.
  • Support the Director Enterprise Systems Business Operations in preparing materials for senior leadership meetings, business reviews, and governance forums, ensuring financial and operational content is accurate, well-structured, and presented at the right level of detail.
  • Ensure compliance with GSK financial controls, procurement policies, and internal audit requirements across all Enterprise Systems financial and operational activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Enterprise Systems financial processes, tooling, and data, providing guidance to the broader team and supporting onboarding of new team members to financial ways of working.
  • Lead your team in using approved AI tools to improve productivity and ways of working, role-modelling responsible use and following GSK's Responsible AI, privacy and security requirements.

What you'll need

  • 15 to 19 years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Information Systems or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in finance operations, finance systems, reporting or controls in a large organisation.
  • Practical experience using ERP or enterprise finance systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Oracle, Workday) to support budgeting, reporting, procurement, financial controls, and month-end processes.
  • Experience working in a finance business partnering, financial management, or IT financial operations role within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven experience managing technology or IT function budgets, including headcount cost management, vendor spend, and capital/operational expenditure tracking.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate needs into feasible, value-led technology changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality financial analysis, forecasts, and management information that supports executive decision-making.
  • Experience working as a trusted business partner to senior technology or functional leaders, translating financial complexity into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Familiarity with procurement, vendor management, and contract governance processes, including purchase order management and invoice approval workflows.
  • Exposure to workforce planning processes, including headcount tracking, contractor governance, and role change management.
  • Experience supporting business case development, including financial modelling, benefit quantification, and investment appraisal.
  • Experience working within structured financial governance, internal controls, and audit frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and experiment with AI and automation to improve data quality and reporting output.

Nice to have

  • Professional finance qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and data modelling (for example Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
  • Prior experience in program or project delivery across finance and technology.
  • Exposure to control frameworks, compliance or risk management in a global environment.
  • Experience working in an internal company matrix environment and with external vendors or service providers.
  • Familiarity with automation, RPA or system integration concepts.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, able to present complex financial information clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong financial modelling and data analysis skills, able to build robust forecasts, cost models, and business cases that withstand senior scrutiny.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple financial cycles, reporting deadlines, and operational workstreams simultaneously without loss of accuracy.
  • Proactive and commercially minded, able to identify financial risks and opportunities and bring them to the attention of senior leaders with recommended courses of action.
  • Comfortable working within structured governance, compliance, and internal control frameworks, ensuring all financial activities meet GSK's policies and audit standards.
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to weigh value, risk, complexity, and cost to make prioritisation decisions and sequence backlog items appropriately.

Details

  • Based in India with UK working business hours.
  • Hybrid working under GSK's "Performance with Choice" approach, typically 2–3 days per week in the office, with the pattern agreed with your manager.
