Associate, Index Data Research

Overview

Associate role in the Index Data Research unit at ISS STOXX, focused on sourcing, validating and maintaining high-quality financial data that underpins index calculation and methodology in the equity asset class.

What you'll do

• Oversee ownership research.
• Assess withholding tax.
• Monitor equity trading suspensions and provide accurate information to clients via publications and notifications.
• Carry out a large number of routine and non-routine activities across Index Operations.
• Take part in new projects such as defining new rules based on market requirements or anticipating market impacts, and analyze market expectations to define new data points.
• Coordinate closely with the IT department on automation solutions, enhance or suggest new tools, specify requirements for technical development, and test new applications/tools end to end.

What you'll need

• Master's degree in finance, economics or equivalent.
• At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in a financial environment (Index Business, Portfolio Business, Asset Managers, Primary and Secondary research).
• Good understanding of the financial markets environment, its working constraints and philosophy.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills and know-how in financial information and financial markets, including understanding of corporate actions impacts on an index, and data points such as Shares and FF research, Dividend research, Foreign Ownership Limit research, Withholding Tax research and Suspension research.
• Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks time-efficiently and autonomously in parallel, and work on tight deadlines.
• Ability to work and learn autonomously without minimum supervision and training (self-starter/self-learner).
• Team player with good communication skills, highly motivated, flexible and solution-oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; fluency in English, both oral and written (mandatory).
• Good knowledge of reference and market data applications such as Refinitiv, Bloomberg, FactSet, SIX, ICE and EDI.
• Ability to work independently with tight deadlines, quickly identify and report issues and problems.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data interpretation.
• Proactive, independent, hands-on team player.

Nice to have

• Experience and track record in Corporate Actions management, Index Operations, Securities and listed companies operations (middle and back office), data analysis/cleansing, and data processing rules and techniques.
• A second European or Asian language.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools; Python and VBA programming skills, ideally combined with database knowledge and SQL.
