Overview
Associate, Tech Strategy & Operations is a quantitative role supporting the planning, reporting, and operating rhythm of the Technology organization, based in India and reporting on a matrix basis to the Managing Director, Tech Strategy & Operations in Los Angeles.
What you'll do
- Build, maintain, and improve financial and operational models supporting the Technology budget, forecast, and long-range plan, including headcount, vendor spend, cloud/infrastructure costs, and project-level investment cases.
- Support the annual planning and quarterly reforecast cycles: consolidate inputs from Technology leaders, reconcile to Finance submissions, and explain variances between actuals, budget, and forecast.
- Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports covering spend, capacity, delivery metrics, and KPIs; own the underlying data models, DAX measures, and refresh pipelines.
- Turn raw data from Finance, procurement, and delivery tooling into clean, reusable datasets and repeatable reporting, reducing manual effort through automation and better data hygiene.
- Prepare analyses and decision-support materials for the MD, Tech Strategy & Operations and other senior stakeholders, including business cases, scenario and sensitivity analyses, benchmarking, and vendor/contract cost reviews.
- Produce executive-ready summaries and presentations that translate analytical detail into a clear recommendation and a defensible set of assumptions.
- Support the operating cadence of the Technology function, including monthly/quarterly business reviews, leadership reporting packs, and tracking of strategic initiatives against milestones and financial targets.
- Partner across time zones with Technology, Finance, and Tech PMO counterparts in India, Los Angeles, and other locations to gather inputs, validate data, and drive issues to resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning and reporting processes and help implement the resulting changes.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, statistics, business analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, business/technology finance, strategy and operations, consulting, or a comparable analytical role.
- Demonstrated financial modeling skills: able to build a clear, well-structured model from scratch (budgets, forecasts, business cases, scenario analysis) and stand behind the assumptions.
- Advanced Excel (complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data tables, structured workbook design).
- Hands-on Power BI experience: data modeling, DAX, report and dashboard design, Power Query, and managing datasets and scheduled refreshes.
- Strong data skills: comfortable sourcing, cleaning, and reconciling large datasets from multiple systems, with a high bar for accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; able to present analysis and recommendations clearly and credibly to senior, non-financial stakeholders.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team: takes ownership of deliverables, manages competing priorities, and follows through with limited supervision.
