Automation Engineer

Overview

Automation Engineer II contractor role supporting design, development, deployment, and maintenance of automation and integration solutions within Alkami’s operational technology ecosystem.

What you'll do

• Build, configure, and maintain API-driven integrations across Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Glean, Google Workspace, and Workato.
• Implement automation triggers such as event triggers, data sync, webhooks, and scheduled jobs with error handling.
• Design and implement Workato recipes/workflows for multi-step business processes.
• Develop Google Apps Script automations that extend Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive.
• Extend AI agent capabilities by defining tool schemas and connecting agents to live APIs and approved knowledge sources.
• Monitor production automations via logging, alerting, failure handling, access controls, and maintenance; investigate incidents.

What you'll need

• 2–4 years of experience in software engineering, automation engineering, or systems integration with API experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong REST API fluency including OAuth flows, webhooks, pagination, rate limiting, error handling, and debugging (e.g., Postman or curl).
• Hands-on Google Apps Script experience, including triggers and calling external APIs.
• Hands-on iPaaS/workflow automation experience such as Workato (multi-step recipes, conditional logic, and error paths).
• Salesforce API experience for querying/writing records and understanding the object model.
• ServiceNow API experience for reading/writing records and triggering workflows programmatically.
