AVP - Treasury Finance Tesco

Overview

Oversee the financial aspects of trading activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book, regulatory compliance, and insight into trading performance. The purpose of the role is to perform analytical review of securities, fees and investment income for the investment banking business.

What you'll do

• Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks to ensure they align with the valued positions in the trading book.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between P&L figures to ensure they reflect the true economic value of the trading portfolio.
• Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of trading risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues.
• Maintain and analyse the bank's trading data, ensuring its accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Provide insights to traders and senior colleagues on trading performance.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities.
• Provide support to external audits, including addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are appropriately reflected in financial statements.
• Communicate complex financial information effectively to traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a coordinated approach to trading activities.
• Explain the movements in balance sheet/P&L and identify control gaps.
• Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives and coach employees, and appraise performance relative to objectives.

What you'll need

• Product control experience in an investment bank.
• In-depth knowledge of financial products and markets of the relevant governance control.
• Good understanding of end-to-end processes of an investment bank and associated controls.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings, and the ability to interact.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise.

Nice to have

• CFA / Masters in Finance / Financial Engineering.
• Good control awareness and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently with a spectrum of people from junior finance staff to front office business heads.
• Maturity and the ability to negotiate through difficult situations.
• Good influencing and negotiation skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
