Backend Developer (Mexico)

Overview

Part-time, project-based Backend Developer (Python and JavaScript/TypeScript) contributor role supporting an AI lab through realistic software engineering task design and evaluation.

What you'll do

• Design and implement multi-file coding tasks covering bug fixing, feature development, and refactoring.
• Create and extend unit and integration test suites.
• Write natural-language specifications and reference implementations.
• Review peer submissions for correctness, clarity, realism, and alignment with expected outputs.
• Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure modes.
• Ensure specifications, code, and expected outputs stay aligned.

What you'll need

• 3–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of Java, C#, or Go.
• Backend or full-stack development experience in production systems.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go testing.
• Proven ability to debug and navigate large multi-file codebases.
• Experience with code reviews, refactoring, and production migrations.
• Advanced professional written proficiency in English.
