Backend Engineer

Overview

Backend Engineer on the Data Feeds Team at YipitData, building and operating scalable data pipelines, systems and services. This is a fully-remote role based in India.

What you'll do

• Develop, optimize and maintain super-scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Maintain and enhance the stability, reliability and high availability of existing data systems and services.
• Construct and refine an expandable, high-performance data architecture with the team.
• Serve high-quality, reliable data services to internal teams across the business.
• Understand product and business requirements, then design and implement data functionality with intuitive data visualizations.
• Oversee the integration and maintenance of collaborative data with third-party clients.
• Work closely with the US, Singapore and China teams.
• Enforce data governance, security and compliance best practices.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a top-tier (Tier 1/2) institution.
• 4+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, core data structures and advanced algorithms.
• Excellent in one of: Python, Golang or Java (Python most preferred).
• Proficiency with messaging platforms (Kafka, RMQ, SQS) and relational/NoSQL datastores (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, HBase, Redis, Aerospike, etc.).
• Experience architecting and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Familiarity with microservice architecture, API gateway patterns and service observability (logging, tracing, metrics).
• Proven track record building and operating systems with strict latency and reliability requirements in 24/7 environments, including high-performance, high-uptime (99.99%+) systems, self-recoverable architectures and container/VM orchestration platforms.
• Excellent logic analysis capabilities, able to abstract and split business logic reasonably.
• Strong ownership, self-motivation, and ability to deliver independently while collaborating effectively.
• Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts and org-wide strategies to engineers, cross-functional partners and executives.

Nice to have

• Bonus: experience with RPC frameworks (gRPC/Protobuf, Thrift).
• Strong architectural expertise with modern backend stacks (Go, Python, Java, Node.js) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes/Docker).
• Knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization and performance tuning for high-traffic systems.
• Knowledge of AI agent/harness and using AI to improve work efficiency or restructure work patterns.
• Experience with DevOps practices.

Details

• Fully remote, based in India.
• Standard work hours 8 am to 5 pm IST, with flexibility to work hours that overlap with US/SG/China teams.
