Business Central Developer (Remote)

Overview

Learnlight is exploring whether to build an in-house capability for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This is not an active vacancy; the company is inviting expressions of interest from experienced Business Central professionals.

What you'll do

• Design, develop and maintain AL code, extensions and customisations, following Microsoft best practices and upgrade-safe development patterns.
• Translate functional requirements into robust, maintainable technical solutions, working closely with Finance, Operations and functional specialists.
• Build and maintain integrations with CRM, payroll, banking and other third-party systems using APIs, web services and middleware.
• Support technical workstreams for acquisitions, including migration scripts, data validation and onboarding of new entities and systems.
• Manage Business Central environments, sandboxes, deployment pipelines, version updates and extension publishing.
• Develop workflow automations and system enhancements, with appropriate testing and documentation, and help resolve complex technical issues.

What you'll need

• Strong hands-on experience developing in AL, building and maintaining extensions, and understanding Business Central architecture, events, triggers and upgrade-safe development patterns.
• Proven experience designing and implementing integrations using APIs, web services or middleware, and translating functional requirements into clear technical designs.
• Experience with data migration, multi-entity environments, acquisition-related technical work, environment management and deployment or release pipelines.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of solutions from design through delivery.
• Experience with Business Central permissions, security and administration, structured testing, regression testing and technical documentation.
• Effective collaboration with Finance, Operations and functional teams.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
• Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps or other cloud integration technologies.
• SQL, particularly for legacy Dynamics NAV environments or external data integrations.
• DevOps practices and Business Central deployment pipelines, including Git and CI/CD.
• AI capabilities within Business Central.
