Chemist I

Overview

Chemist I in Research and Development responsible for performing and documenting laboratory tests, assisting product development and improvements, and supporting analysis and reporting of experimental samples.

What you'll do

• Prepare samples using laboratory dispersion and blending equipment.
• Conduct standard and special lab tests such as coating applications, viscosity, ICI, gloss, tint strength, density, pH, and scrub tests.
• Follow Standard Test Procedures and record/report issues with test equipment or processes.
• Record, report, and interpret test results.
• Request raw materials and supplies for projects as needed.
• Clean and maintain test equipment.
• Provide project support and technical guidance to R&D Technicians as needed.

What you'll need

• Educational attainment equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or Master of Science or a related field.
• Some experience involving chemical analysis and testing procedures.
• Knowledge of math and chemistry principles.
• Ability to set up and operate laboratory testing equipment, including a glossmeter and solid and viscosity testing equipment.
• Ability to perform laboratory research and complete test records and reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively, read specifications, and follow oral or written instructions.
