Overview
Contribute to the development, integration, and testing of emerging technology products as a co-op on the Data Science and Applied Machine Learning team focused on Digital Health Technologies and Product Development/Readiness. This is a 6-month student role from January through June 2027 involving hands-on development engineering for products integrating sensor, algorithmic, and agentic technologies.
What you'll do
- Write and test code for agent backend components, APIs, and tool integrations.
- Investigate technical issues, review outputs from partner teams, and document findings.
- Learn how technical components are developed, integrated, tested, and assessed for product use.
- With guidance, translate requirements into implementation and testing tasks and communicate results to the team.
- Contribute a backend component, integration, prototype, or testing tool supported by documented code, test results, known limitations, and recommended follow-up work.
- Help build services or utilities that connect an agent to tools, manage execution, capture results, and support repeatable testing.
- Help test how data from a digital health technology is received, structured, and checked for completeness or consistency.
- Assist in connecting a model or algorithm developed by another team to a product component, and test its interface, outputs, and error handling.
- Build automated checks or utilities that help the team review test results, defects, and technical dependencies.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, software engineering, data science, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience programming in Python or another relevant language.
- Applied software development, data analysis, or machine learning skills through coursework, research, personal projects, or prior work.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university, or skills program/apprenticeship.
- Ability to explain your work clearly, document what you tried and found, and collaborate with people whose expertise differs from yours.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, backend development, or automated testing.
- Interest in AI agents and curiosity about how digital health technologies and other technical capabilities become reliable products.
