Overview
As the Editorial Graphic Designer for Razorpay's editorial department, you will shape how the company's stories look, feel and move, turning ideas into conceptual, witty, opinionated editorial art.
What you'll do
- Move between illustration and information design to shape the publication's visual voice as it grows.
- Turn abstract ideas into visual metaphors, proposing the treatment (illustration, collage, infographic or type-only cover) for each piece rather than decorating the obvious.
- Turn data and complex reporting into clear, engaging infographics and data visualizations, including charts, timelines, maps and explainer diagrams.
- Design for long-form digital reading, including scrollytelling, interactive charts and embedded visual essays.
- Take a piece from concept sketch to shipped visual with minimal hand-holding, and explain choices clearly to editors and reporters.
- Work alongside editors and writers who care about how stories look, with room to experiment.
What you'll need
- 2+ years of experience in graphic or visual design (a strong portfolio is valued over a strict years cutoff).
- A distinct visual point of view with personality and wit.
- Conceptual thinking to turn abstract ideas into visual metaphors.
- Adept with AI tools and workflows, with the curiosity to stay on top of new ones.
- Genuine range across mediums: hand-drawn and digital illustration, collage, mixed media, photo manipulation, expressive typography, and AI-assisted graphics used with taste and craft.
- Strong fundamentals in layout, typography, hierarchy, colour and grid systems, with an editorial (not just product) sensibility.
- Ability to create clear, engaging infographics and data visualizations.
- Comfort designing for long-form digital reading.
- Plugged into visual culture, following design trends, internet aesthetics and editorial art globally.
- Strong self-direction.
- Proficiency in Figma, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with AI image tools such as Midjourney, Gemini, Firefly or similar.
Nice to have
- Hand-drawn illustrations.
