Controls Project Engineer I

Overview

Design, develop, test, integrate, and commission Siemens PLC-based controls software for medium-to-large automated material handling systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and support customer-facing technical activities.

What you'll do

• Develop and test LLC software using Siemens TIA Portal.
• Program and configure PLCs with Ladder Logic, FBD, STL, and SCL.
• Integrate PLC, HMI, SCADA, drives, and safety systems.
• Perform simulation, FAT, SAT, integration, and site commissioning.
• Troubleshoot software, communications, PLC, HMI, and controls issues.
• Prepare test plans, commissioning documents, and technical reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and report technical risks and progress.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of relevant industrial automation and PLC controls experience.
• Experience engineering, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting automation systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of SCADA, HMI development, alarms, diagnostics, and operator interfaces.
• Experience with PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and AS-i.
• Experience with Siemens diagnostic tools, backup, and version management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• International project and site commissioning experience.
• Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.

• International travel approximately 50–70%.
